@ iREFURB We Reclaim – Repair – Re-purpose – Re-home. Interested…..get in touch?
Our main interests and aims are to breath life back into damaged old furniture and lamps. Weather it’s an old broken three legged coffee table or an out-dated desk lamp, we aim to restore these items to former glory or if required, a total face lift. We think, especially with furniture, that multi use is a good thing. The quirkier the better. While much furniture is or was designed for a specific use, we like to think outside the box. What ever the style or original period of the item, we never see anything as outdated, useless or worthless. We aim to re-home everything we produce. We believe everything has an interested owner somewhere, ready to add them to their collection of interesting and useful obj’art.
Take a look around. See if you can find you’re next item of interest. Re-home our products in your designer homes or businesses.
A Few Kind Words
Director Info :- Words By Caroline Mitchell
Luke Maynard is a graphic artist who studied woodwork and metalwork, along with graphic design, print making and art history at York St. John University. His passion for recycling, upcycling and creating beautiful furniture and lighting stems from his belief that every object can be looked at as a piece of art. Luke’s father was an artist and regularly collected items that he found whilst out and about in the park or in the street and incorporated them in his own artwork. He encouraged his children to think outside of the box, to see creative possibilities all around them and to use interesting objects to transform a space.
Luke has a keen eye for selecting reclaimed materials and items that others might see as old and broken and with real care and attention to detail, brings them back to life. He recognises that the marks of time can give old pieces real character and that every item has potential value and can be used for a multitude of purposes, if it’s placed in the right setting.
iRefurb is based in York, where Luke grew up in a Georgian Town house on the Mount. Full of nooks and crannies and oddly shaped rooms, the family home became a backdrop for him to begin creating furniture, lighting and art to fill unusual spaces. He built his work space from bits of scrap wood from an old kitchen and began to collect discarded items and offcuts to help with household jobs. Family and friends showed real interest in the furniture and objects that he was creating in his spare time and started to enquire about prices and commissions. From his own backyard, iRefurb was born. Luke simply has a knack for finding, refurbishing, upcycling and creating things that people like and want to have in their home.
